Meet District 15 JTT/NJTL Volunteers
Barbara, (Bobbie) Danise, Chair Person
Bobbie is a twenty five year
resident of Sebastian. A retired client service associate at Morgan Stanley
Smith Barney, Bobbie started playing tennis in 1990 and started volunteering at
USTA/Florida Sections events in 1992. Her different positions included, umpire,
recreational coach, Junior Team Tennis coach, assistant coach of AAU Junior
Olympic teams and assisted District Director for USTA/Florida, District 15.
She is a mother of five, Grandmother of eleven, mentor to dozens, Professional
Tennis Registry and USTA member and a recipient of numerous awards.
Robert
Bromback
Robert
(Bob) Bromback, owner/operator of Bromback Plumbing is the husband of School
Board Member Karen Disney Bromback. They have three children.
For the last 22 years Bob and Karen have directed the Sunny Shore Sea
Camp for Cystic Fibrosis campers and yet he has found time as a volunteer to
coach our Quick Start and LET programs for the last ten years
Ute Albrecht, Tennis Coach
A regular volunteer for District 15 NJTL Ralleyball program, she is a biologist with the US Horticultural Research Lab in Fort Pierce. Ute was born in Germany and started to play tennis at the age of eight. She spent most of her early years playing in national and international tennis tournaments.
In 1996 she moved to Sebastian, where she lives with her husband Ken and two children, Alissa and Emma. As a certified tennis instructor she has taught children of all ages, as well as adults. As a Professional Tennis Registry, (PTR) member and a part time assistant Pro with the John Danise School of Tennis, Ute shares the school tennis philosophy.
Jon Bergstrom, Tennis Coach
The
past Sebastian River High School Boys Tennis Coach, Jon is a former college tennis player. An active volunteer with the District 15 NJTL, Jon has coached players at AAU Junioer Olympic Games.
John L Danise Jr, Tennis Director
He has been coaching
for the past 45+ years. A Professional Tennis Registry Pro since 1990, he is one
of the 700 + tennis teaching Professionals who have successfully completed the
USTA High Performance Coaching program.
Recognized nationally & internationally he has been a previous speaker at
the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, the National High School Coaches
Association, Professional Tennis Registry and numerous other events and business
groups. As former Director of the John Danise School of Tennis, his Business and
Personal Development Plans have proven successful locally and as far away as
India.
Besides coaching the Sebastian River High School Tennis team the last twelve
years, (Scripps News Paper, “2004 Tennis Coach of the Year” for the Treasure
Coast) he has also taken eight teams to the AAU Junior Olympic Games, coached at
the Team Florida Challenge and coached at the World Scholar Athlete Games, and
was the Tennis coordinator for the 2006 Games at the University of Rhode Island.
John was the second President of the Professional Tennis Registry Florida
Section and served eight years as a Board member of the United States Tennis
Association / Florida Section, he is Tennis Chairman of the Florida Athletic
Coaches Association, and Immediate Past President of the Florida High School
Tennis Coaches Association.
Coach
Michele Modica
Michele,
now in her second year as tennis coach, moved to Florida four years ago from
Long Island, New York. Her sports background includes years as a volunteer
swim coach, water safety instructor, and lifeguard in New York, as well as,
after school programming for elementary school children. Her love of
tennis landed her a position at Riverside Racquet Complex in Vero Beach, which
included running round robin play and directorship of the tournaments. She
has captained USTA Jr. and adult tennis teams, has USPTA recreational coach
certification and is on the board of the Indian River Tennis Foundation. Michele
is employed at Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club as the Tennis & Fitness
Administrator.
Ed Krass, Workshop Contributor
Coach Krass is the Chairman, “One on One Doubles Championships”,
coached the Harvard women’s tennis team from 1986-1990 to four
consecutive Ivory League Championships, author, B.E.S.T. Serve and
B.E.S.T Shots videos and since 1989 has been the Founder/Director, of
College Tennis Exposure Camps.
Dr. Donald McMurray, Workshop Contributor
A sports psychologist who helps develop concentration, confidence,
composure, commitment and consistency at Mental Edge/Sports training in
Sarasota.
Woody Newson, Coach and Workshop Contributor
Director of Tennis at Lawnwood Tennis Center in Ft. Pierce, Woody has
taken District 15 NJTL teams to the AAU Junior Olympic Games, has been a
continuous supporter of USTA Junior Team Tennis and conducts the LET
program in St. Lucie County.
A past president of the USPTA Florida Division and a Professional
Tennis Registry member, Woody has published article and been a speaker
at Professional and USTA events.
These and other supporters have helped District 15 NJTL Junior Olympic
Association teach Life Lessons, through Tennis.
